Mussmann Remodel projects

 

I started working on Albo Mussmann's houses when I was his tenant in 2001.  I asked him if I could remove a wall that unnecessarily separated the hall from the dining area in the house I was living in (see barrelled wall photos below).  He consented, and a long-term series of collaborations began.  In the summer of 2009 we embarked on another series of projects (see wall niche photos below).   In March of 2013 I built the skylight vault and piano niche, and that summer I created the entrance to the Meditation Loft (see below). 

 

 

 

Skylight vault

Create transition from 4x6 rectangular skylight to 8x11 oval opening in ceiling.

Piano niche

Plaster enclosure for piano

 

 

 

Entrance to Meditation Loft

14-inch radius concave plaster void in the ceiling at the top of a built-in ladder.  The void is shaped like ¼ of a donut.

 

 

 

Barrelled walls

10-inch radius plaster corner, custom-formed baseboards.
